General Thoughts
The sequel was also pretty nnjoyable to watch! While watching, it started to feel like the film was going to follow the exact same formula/basic plot that is: Underestimated novice fails to understands the environment around her, then is able to prove herself to those looking down on her by adapting. But then Irv dies and introduces a really cool plot twist! Another cool plot twist was Emily tricking Andy to help convince Peter to sell Runway to her boyfriend (Benji), who would then give it to her.
The movie discussing capatilsm is a nice theme that feels relevant to current issues and makes total sense with Andy’s career in journalism. The discussion of the shift to technology and AI, and Miranda’s stuggle to adjust while Peter and others see it as the future is interesting as well.
Andy
Andy is more confident and has this positive attitude with even those that used to despise her (Miranda and Emily) which shows good growth! Though she unfortunatly switched to sterotypical beautiful, silky hair style that you see every woman in an ad have. Look at the following:

There is less focus on her friends then in the last movie but it is obvious that she has moved on to others, except for Lily. Its nice to see her reapear but I can imagine some disliking it considering some found Lily to be a toxic friend in the first movie.
Relations with Nigel are strong as usual!
Others
Emily & Andy becoming friends is nice to see. The scene where Emily says she wanted to be Andy’s friend after she left was cute. I feel like Andy is too nice with Emily though because she did trick her into putting Runway in wrong hands.
Miranda’s heart to heart scene with Andy where she reveals she always saw something in Andy did not feel authenthic or make sense. In the first movie, she discusses her issues with her husband and it is unfair to her duaghters. This feels genuine and connects to how Andy is facing a similar situations with Nate. But in the second movie Miranda states that she always saw something in Andy. The scene is just not executed well but I think they kept it because they needed to show a growing bond between the two. Oh also that one red dress is ugly.
Although Jin was fun she was a pretty useless character. Maybe Andy could have befriended Amari (the first assistant) instead and fulfilled the same “younger, smart girl” role. The only useful thing Jin does is record the meeting Miranada has with the people Peter has hired. Anyone could have easily done that so she is redundant.
Well at least Jin was fun. Peter, Andy’s boyfriend felt like an awkwardly forced character made simply to ensure Andy had some kind of boyfriend. He was completely unecessary and added no extra value that Lily or other characters couldn’t have fulfilled. I mean who the hell finds a date while looking for a apartment. There is no chemistry whatsoever.
Amari being shocked that Andy sold all her chanel from Paris is pretty funny and honestly also a good point because even if she didn’t want it, she could have sold it. She just gave away so much money for free.
As I’m writing I am starting to notice a pattern of unnecessary characters, especially in Andy’s personal life. It seems that the movie wanted to create depth and an interesting plot as it did before, by observing both Andy’s relationships and work life. The Problem? The plot of Andy’s work life is already enough espeically with the two plot twists mentioned already (Irv’s death and Emily’s betrayal) .
Another reason why I feel that it tries to follow the same formula is because of Miranda’s heart to heart scene with Andy. As I already said this scene she reveals she always saw something in Andy. This did not feel authenthic or make sense, especially in comparision to the corresponding heart to heart in the first movie where Miranda discusses her family issue (with her husband), that reflect Andy’s issues with her friends and boyfriend. This scene does feel genuine, and connects back to Andy and her character struggles and arc. It actually adds something to the movie, unlike the scene in the second installment.
I’m getting pretty lazy writing this so I’m just gonna end it here and advertise here ya go:
