Want some rice ice cream?

Or maybe you would prefer milk chip chili?

If you like creating abominations, experimenting or just playing around, you might want to check out a few open world/sandbox games. I’ve complied a list right here.
Sandbox Vs Openworld
Sandbox and open-world games are often used as synoynms. When you check the definitions in dictionaries such as Merriam Webster they are practically the same. But my belief is that no two words have the exact same definition. One thing is for certain: Players have more freedom in these games. But what is the difference?
For me, a sandbox game is more like playing God in the sense that you can build and create without limits. Many times you aren’t really even a character. But in open-world games you are a character, but you can’t destroy a building in seconds. Its just that you have more freedom in choice, there isn’t an exact plot or goal you must follow. So sandbox games offer a freedom something like of the devleopers or an eternal entity (Minecraft creative mode) while open-world games allow players to choose your own path (Minecraft Survival mode).
Now let’s get to the list:
1. Sandboxels
Sandboxels is a free-falling sand simulator on the website “R74n”. The following is a screenshot of what the game looks like:

You can experiment with over 500 diffrent materials and see how they react. You can just build a house and destroy it with an earthquake or see what happens when you mix different chemicals together. This is probably the game with the most advanced features in it. R74n is way more then just Sandboxels, including another sandbox game and other useful/fasinating sites.
2. Sandspiel
Sandspiel can be played on CrazyGames. It is similar to Sandboxels, albeit it has less elements to play with. Still, you can use it to experiment and destroy houses. CrazyGames is a site full of games ranging from many genres such as .io, actio, 2 player, basketball, and Thinky. I would suggest exploring it and seeing what you like, the games on the website can be geniunly good or they can be bad knock offs. You can look at the “Thinky” category which was specifically curated to highlight nice brainy games. My personal recommendation would be Shell Shockers. It is a first person shooter where everyone is an egg and all the guns egg puns!

3. Orb farm
Orb.farm is developed by Max Bittker—the same guy who created Sandspiel. It can also be played on CrazyGames. Instead of experimenting in a box, you experiment in a circle. This game is focused on observing aquatic animals.

Another creation of R74n. This game is a different from all other games I’ve talked about so far, because its about food (I made the rice ice cream and milk chip chili in this game)! In this cooking simulator you can make drinks, soups, and more with hundreds of diffrent ingredients. You can adjust the temperature and use a few utensils as well.

“DON’T YOU LECTURE ME WITH YOUR THIRTY DOLLAR WEBSITE” (don’t mind me purposfully trying to use the name as much as possible) is probably the most famost website I am covering here. While “DON’T YOU LECTURE ME WITH YOUR THIRTY DOLLAR WEBSITE” is not exactly a sandbox game, you are allowed to experiment and do what you want.

For those who don’t know ““DON’T YOU LECTURE ME WITH YOUR THIRTY DOLLAR WEBSITE”, is a game where emojis/memes represent sounds. You use these sounds and action buttons to create music. Some of the sounds in “DON’T YOU LECTURE ME WITH YOUR THIRTY DOLLAR WEBSITE” are purely meant to be jokes but you can actually make some pretty good songs if you want to (You can check out this song cover of 7 Weeks & 3 Days. It may look like dumb website but don’t be fooled by the name “DON’T YOU LECTURE ME WITH YOUR THIRTY DOLLAR WEBSITE”.
And that is all for today! I hoped you enjoyed this blog. If you would like more sandbox game recommendations, comment below. Also check on my instagram if you want to support a young artist. Stay tuned for the next blog and have a great day!
